Turn 3Player Actions
Fokker's are the only actions requiring explanation. He begins by recruiting the first Talented Engineer to make an appearance in this game, and for good measure garners the aid of famous Ace Oswald Boelcke. For his Design action, Fokker adds +2 Streamlining to his technology display. Because of his Talented Engineer, he gets to roll twice and keep the best roll to determine his new Effectiveness. He rolls 5, 5 and ends up with a new Effectiveness of 7. Now it's time to award contracts. In the absence of Political Influence, contracts are awarded in decreasing order of Effectiveness. But now with Boelcke in play, he adds his rating [+1] to Fokker's Effectiveness [7] to raise Fokker's Preference Rating to 8, tying with Pfalz. What's more, ties are broken in favor of the player with the most Influence. So Fokker will go first this turn, followed by Pfalz, and a random dieroll determining Albatros to be 3rd and Halberstadt last. Fokker rolls a '1', modified to '2' by Boelcke's Influence. (Thus Aces provide a dual bonus, increasing contract rolls as well as Preference Ratings.) Of the 12 contracts currently available, Fokker lands four. Pfalz rolls a '5' and of the 8 contracts remaining, he gets four. Of the slim pickings remaining, Albatros rolls '3' and lands two, and Halberstadt rolls '4' and gets one. One contract remains unassigned and hence will negatively affect this turn's rise in contracts. The War Status card drops German morale by 1, Allied morale by 2 (including the technological inferiority bonus), adds a net three contracts, adds 4 to Allied Effectiveness (regaining superiority), and causes a reshuffle of the War Status deck.
