Turn 5Player Actions
A quiet turn as the players gear up to fulfill those 16 available contracts. Pfalz, apparently not happy about being bypassed technologically, plays a Design action and adds Ailerons and Thick Wings to his design. It's a little strange that until now the only technology developed by anyone at all has been Streamlining, which three people developed out of only four cards available in the deck! The Ailerons are noted in red on the stats table because it is one of the "All Play" technologies, meaning that the turn after anyone plays it, everyone else may add it to their technology display as part of a Design action. These technologies end up helping everyone in the long run, but playing them first can give you a crucial head start. (Players, I will try to remember to include "All Plays" in your design actions, but it can't hurt to remind me when you send in your orders.) With a +5 technological bonus, Pfalz would normally have only a 50% chance to improve his existing design's Effectiveness of 8, but his Talented Engineer gives him a reroll on which he (again) scores '6' for a total Effectiveness of 11. The Germans are now at technological parity with the Allies. The preference order for contracts is now Pfalz, Albatros, Fokker, and Halberstadt. Pfalz rolls a '3' for contracts which would entitle him to 7 contracts, but he's limited to 5 by his factories. Albatros also rolls '3' and scores 4 contracts. Fokker rolls '2', adjusted by Boelcke to '3', landing 3 contracts. Halberstadt rolls '4', adjusted by Udet to '5', landing 2 contracts. Two contracts go unclaimed. Two contracts go unfulfilled. Looks like the production build-up may have been a bit premature. The War Status card drops both sides' morale by 4 and adds a net one contract. Game Stats
