Turn 8Player Actions
Not much visible happens this turn in terms of actions. Halberstadt plays Job Offer, stealing Pfalz's Talented Engineer. Pfalz does a Design action, only to have Fokker play Prototype Crashes, cancelling it. All the research actions did have one visible effect -- the discard deck has been reshuffled. Note that the Ace: So-and-so events are now in effect null events, since all of the aces are already in play. (You can still kill or turn an ace with the appropriate event, of course.) Pfalz's Bank action rolls a '4'. On to awarding contracts, the order remaining as last turn, Albatros (14 Effectiveness + 2 for von Richthofen), Pfalz (13+1), Fokker (11+1), Halberstadt (10+1). Albatros again rolls a '2' for contracts, but again von Richthofen boosts that to '4', resulting in 8 contracts. Alas, Albatros has only 7 factories, so seven more points is what he scores. Pfalz, having had his share of knocks earlier, rolls a '6', adjusted to '7' for his ace, and receives 6 contracts, reduced to 5 because of factory capacity. Fokker rolls '2', adjusted to '3' for his ace, getting 1 contract. (Sorry, Klaus -- I know I'm never going to hear this end of this....) Halberstadt rolls '6', adjusted by his ace to '7', getting 2 contracts. All contracts are fulfilled. In the War Status phase, Pfalz plays America Program, which raises his factories by 4, everyone else's factories by 2, and adds a dieroll ('4') to Available Contracts. Fokker reveals that Pfalz' latest design has reached a Dead End, and removes the Thick Wings and Streamlining from Pfalz' technology display. The War Status card drops German morale by 3, and Allied morale by 5 (including the technology bonus since Albatros has a better design than the Allies). Four more contracts are available. Next turn is guaranteed to be the last turn (because the Allied Morale will drop at least one during the War Status phase), and there are plenty of contracts available. There's roughly a 50-50 shot that Germany will lose the war -- recall that Germany loses if both morale markers drop to zero -- with the possibility of concomittant inflation May the best company win, and good luck to all in the final dash!
