Turn 9 & End

Player Actions
Albatros (Jon) Bank x2
Fokker (Klaus) Design, Bank
Halberstadt (Mike) Build, Design
Pfalz (Ian) Bank x2

This turn begins with a fatality, as Halberstadt reports the death of von Richthofen because Accidents Will Happen.

For Fokker's Design action, he gets all play Better Engine and Dual Machine Guns, and also lays down Triplane. With a dieroll of '4', he ends up with an Effectiveness of 15.

For Halberstadt's Design action, he plays another Better Engine and adds Welded Steel as well. Dierolls of '4' and '3' (because of the Talented Engineer) leave him with a final Effectiveness of 14.

Both players' designs are slightly hindered by the "only one new engine per turn" rule. It's probably worth some thought as to whether that rule needs to be in the design or not.

In the numerous Bank actions, Albatros rolls '2', '6', and '1', Fokker rolls '2', and Pfalz rolls '1', '5', and '2'.

For contract awards, Fokker is now in the lead (Preference 16), followed by Halberstadt (15), Pfalz (14, with more political influence), and Albatros (14, no influence).

Fokker rolls '6', adjusted to '7' for his ace, for a whopping 20 contracts. Unfortunately, Fokker only has 9 factories....

Halberstadt also rolls '6', adjusted to '7' for his ace, landing 14 contracts...which he actually has the production capacity for! Plus he gets a 20% bonus for his Welded Steel construction, for an additional 3 points.

Pfalz rolls a '1' for contracts, adjusted to a '4' by his ace and the two Friends in High Places that he has. Which is just enough to claim 3 contracts.

Albatros rolls '4' but also has Friends in High Places and ends up with 2 contracts, leaving one unfulfilled.

Before I draw the War Status card, Pfalz announces an Allied Offensive, dropping German morale by 1. The total scores (Score + Bank) at this point are Albatros 25, Fokker 28, Halberstadt 29, Pfalz 28.

Both German morale and Allied morale drop by 2. The game was guaranteed to be over because Allied morale was going to hit zero, but Pfalz' morale ploy proves to be vitally important, as now the Germans are at zero, too! In case of ties like this, the Germans are considered to lose, which causes another round of inflation (rounded down in this case).

So Halberstadt's high score drops 25%, leaving the final Score + Bank as Albatros 21, Fokker 26, Halberstadt 22, and Pfalz 25.

It's Fokker, by a nose!

My thanks to the playtesters. I'm very interested in your thoughts, especially what can be improved. (Please post at CSW for general discussion.)
